There’s no, no good reason for anyone to own something this powerful. But because it wasn’t illegal for me to build, I decided to build one anyway.
—Inventor of 40-watt laser shotgun
Why do some people build things like this? Because the challenge is irresistible. I’m glad he doesn’t live near me!

Nuts! I am glad too.
Yes. I’m with Mike, the fellow should be steered into using his considerable talent for something more constructive.
I saw this a few days ago. The guy appears to be an irresponsible jerk. But, he’s apparently pretty smart, too, to have been able to build something like this. Now, just to channel all of that smart into being of some use…
I agree. He could use some mentoring.
they have grown up seeing this kind of thing … in all the films and video games. it’s an extension of his childhood. and he thinks it’s so cool.
and they’re going to inherit the world. or worlds. and their toys are deadly.
but then i guess… so were ours. we invented ‘the bomb’ after all.
it is unsettling though.
have you seen the commercial where the little child puts a laser dot on the middle of her father’s forehead… apparently ready to pull the trigger… because he is about to eat one of her halo oranges? frightening.
No, I haven’t seen that commercial. I’m worried that even small laser pointers can (rarely) hurt people’s eyes, and little kids wouldn’t know that. It’s best not to joke around, even in commercials.
I hope the good guys hire him
and not the bad.
Scary.
I agree with you. He’s definitely talented.
dreadful
Yes, but I’m afraid I also think it’s kind of funny.
